" Through her passion for antique European cookie molds, New Mexico artist Debbie Kerwick began her art of creating paper castings replicating these historic images.
Debbie grew up in a German community in St. Louis, Missouri. At an early age, she was impressed by the beautiful Springerle cookies her grandmother served at Christmas time; a centuries old tradition.
These cookies were made from wooden molds; many carved hundreds of years ago, and were given as tokens of love, for telling of stories or celebrations of special events.
Twenty-five years ago Debbie began collecting her molds and combined them with her love of paper casting, to create timeless ornaments that capture a piece of old European history."
